Our favorite girl name, Sophia, selected lovingly some 10 odd years ago, has become über popular. I definitely don't want to have a "Jennifer/John" situation on our hands where there are three kids in each class with the same name. Too common. So Sophia has been back-burnered, designated to middle-name status if it works.
And nope, we don't know what we'll do about last names yet. I'd love to carry on my family name, as there are so few of us left...
I don't want a popular name, but I also don't want to fall into the trap of giving her such a far-out-there name like Moonbeam or La–sha (pronounced Ladasha, I kid you not) so that she gets singled out and teased, etc.
So, any suggestions?

I love the idea of using a special name that's been in the family. Can you look back in your family history ad see if there are any names you'd like to resurrect? Is there a grandmother or great grandmother who you were close to AND they have a nice name? Plus, I'm particularly fond of old names. I really can't stand all these new made up names people are creating.
ReplyDeletealas, we dont really have any old family names that mean something to us. ben had a step-grandma named Ellie whom he loved, but i don't like that name. I had a great aunt named Babette, who went by "Bobby", but not fond of that name either. other than that, not really anyone...
